Members Bio.

1968 Stephen Moyer

Steve Moyer is a 1968 graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School. As a junior, he was the leading rusher, leading scorer, and second-leading receiver on Upper Perk’s 1966 Bux-Mont League Championship team. He earned nine varsity letters while participating in football, baseball, basketball, and track. As a senior, he was awarded the Outstanding Football and Outstanding Baseball awards, as well as the Best All-Around Athlete Award.

Steve Moyer attended the University of Pittsburgh on a football scholarship. He graduated in 1972 as Pitt’s all-time leading receiver with 117 pass receptions. He then began a career as a teacher and coach, starting as a student coach at the University of Pittsburgh. He went on to coach at Freedom High School in Bethlehem, PA; Red Land High School near Harrisburg; Upper Perkiomen High School; Kutztown University; Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh; Spring-Ford High School; and is presently coaching at Great Valley High School in Malvern.

 

As Upper Perk’s head coach, his 1996 team made it to the District One semi-final playoff game, and his 1997 team was the PAC-10 co-champion, making it to the District One final. He has now coached for 53 years.

Steve Moyer received his B.A. in Education from Pitt and his M.Ed. from Shippensburg University. He taught social studies for 33 years.

Steve and his wife, Emily, have five children and five grandchildren.
