1985 Debra Reed

Debra Reed – 1985 UPHS WOF

Debra Reed graduated from Upper Perkiomen High School in 1985.  During her time there, she distinguished herself as a multisport athlete earning 10 Varsity letters across field hockey, swimming and track.  In her senior year, she was chosen captain for both the swimming and track teams.  Her achievements included being named MVP in swimming three times and honored as both the female scholar athlete as well as outstanding female athlete. 

Deb continued her education at Bloomsburg University where she earned a degree in nursing. During her college years, she continued in athletics by earning two varsity letters in swimming as well as one as a student athletic trainer.  Her academic and professional achievements were recognized when she was listed in Who’s who in American Colleges and inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society of nursing. 

In 1990, Deb joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, serving during the first Gulf War. She attained the rank of captain and is recognized as a Veteran. During her time in the service, she was selected to complete Advanced Training in Critical Care and continually excelled at Physical Fitness Standards.  Stationed at West Point Military Academy, she was honored as Nurse of the Year.  Towards the end of her active-duty time, Deb began pursuing her master’s degree in Community Mental Health Counseling through Long Island University/C.W. Post which she successfully completed after return to civilian life. 

Additionally, Deb has earned and continued to maintain her certification as a Professional in Healthcare Quality.  Her career has centered on advancing healthcare quality across a range of organizations.  She has contributed to award winning industry programs addressing topics such as childhood immunizations and flue prevention.  More recently, she has served as a standards leader/consultant on a national pilot program for community focused care. 

Deb currently resides in Pennsburg and is the mother of two daughters who are also UPHS alumni.
