2008 Alyssa Thren

Alyssa Thren - Class of 2008

 Alyssa Thren graduated from Upper Perk in 2008 and went on to Ursinus College where she earned her BS in Exercise Sport Science, graduating cum laude, with minors in education and coaching.
While in high school, Alyssa excelled in field hockey, winter track, and lacrosse. At Ursinus, she continued her hockey and lacrosse careers and was outstanding in both. She became only the second person in NCAA history to score 100 goals in both field hockey and lacrosse.
At Upper Perk, Alyssa was a four-year letter winner in three sports and served as captain for all her teams in her senior year.
The hockey team won the PAC-10 in her sophomore and junior years and in 2006 won District 1 and finished as a State runner-up with Alyssa accumulating several individual honors during her career including All-State and All-Academic recognition.
In track, Alyssa set two team records and was the MVP of the lacrosse team in her senior year.
Alyssa won several Upper Perk awards including Female Outstanding Athlete and the Deborah Hodge Memorial Award.
In high school, Alyssa was also a member of student council and the National Honor Society.
At Ursinus, Alyssa set eight Centennial Conference records in field hockey, including career marks in goals and points. In 88 games, Alyssa scored 107 goals and registered 240 points.
Along the way, Alyssa garnered many individual awards including First Team All-American recognition from two different organizations. Her teams made the NCAA Division Ill Field Hockey Final Four all four years she played at Ursinus. She was the team captain in 2011. At the end of her senior year, Alyssa was named Ursinus’ Outstanding Female Athlete.
As a senior, Alyssa was also captain of the lacrosse squad and once again received many individual awards and led the team in goals and points in the three seasons she played, missing the 2010 season with an injury.
Since graduating from Ursinus, Alyssa has been heavily involved with many Upper Perk organizations including as a substitute teacher at Upper Perk, as a Wellness Coach at the YMCA,as an assistant coach in hockey and lacrosse at Upper Perk. She is currently an assistant hockey coach at Ursinus and active with a travel lacrosse organization.
Alyssa joins her mother Vicki and sister Nikki as members of the UPHS Wall of Fame.
