Members Bio.

2005 Nicole Thren

Nicole Thren - Class of 2005

Nicole graduated from Upper Perkiomen High School in 2005 where she excelled
academically and athletically. Throughout high school, Nicole was a rare four year letter winner
in field hockey, lacrosse, and basketball. During her senior year, Nicole was awarded three
prestigious honors; The Deborah Hodge Memorial Scholarship, The United States Army
National Scholar Athlete, and The United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete.


As a player on excellent field hockey teams, Nicole stood out. She was selected as team
captain and MVP as a senior. During her junior and senior seasons, Nicole was first team all
state, first team Mercury all-area, and first team PAC-10. Her sophomore season, she was
second team all-state, second team Mercury all-area, and honorable mention PAC-10.


In addition to field hockey, Ms. Thren excelled in lacrosse and basketball. On the
lacrosse field, Nicole shined during her senior year. She was selected as captain and team MVP.
Additionally, she earned honorable mention Mercury all-area and second team PAC-10. During
the winter months, Nicole played basketball. She was selected captain during her senior season.
Nicole also exemplified the term “student” in student-athlete. She demonstrated
excellence in the classroom at Upper Perkiomen High School. Nicole was inducted into the
National Honor Society. She also earned field hockey all-state academic team,lacrosse
academic all-American, lacrosse all-academic PAC-10, and lacrosse PAC-10 citizen athlete
honors.


Ms. Thren’s academic and athletic excellence continued at Ursinus College where she
studied Exercise and Science and played field hockey. Nicole graduated Magna Cum Laude
from Ursinus in 2009. Due to Ms. Thren’s strong academic prowess, she earned Dean’s List 
(2005-2009), received numerous academic awards, published research, earned a summer
fellowship, became a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Epsilon Kappa, was a member of the
National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Academic team all four years, and was
the College’s NCAA 2009 Woman of the Year Nominee.


As a field hockey player at Ursinus, Nicole’s excellent play and winning ways continued
exactly where it left off from high school. She played on multiple conference championship and
NCAA qualifying teams. Her team reached the pinnacle in 2006 as NCAA Division III
Champions.


The individual accolades continued as well for Ms. Thren. Nicole was named team
captain in 2008. During her junior and senior seasons (2007 & 2008), she was named to the All
American second team, All-South region first team, All-Centennial Conference first team, and
Centennial Conference player of the week. Nicole continued her academic career by receiving a Master’s degree in Education from
Wilkes University.


The Upper Perkiomen School District is proud of Nicole Thren’s athletic and academic
success. It is with great pride that we induct Nicole in to the Upper Perkiomen High School
