2001 Derek Zinck

Derek Zinck - Class of 2001

Derek was a 2001 graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School. During his career at Upper Perkiomen, Derek was 4 times a PIAA State medalist, 2 times a Southeast Regional Champion, 4 times a District One finalist and 4 times a Section II champion. Derek also won the prestigious Reno Tournament of Champions and finished 3rd in the Beast of the East. He was cadet and junior national champion in the USWE freestyle nationals in Fargo, ND. Derek was a 2 year captain and named to the 1st Team All PAC10 for three years. Derek graduated with a 158-15 career record, which was a District  career record until he was surpassed the following year by teammate Mark Smith. Derek went on to pursue his education and wrestling career at Lehigh University. Derek was a four year starter for the Mountain Hawks and was a EIWA champion. 4 time NCAA qualifier and two time NCAA All-American. In addition to his athletic success, Derek was named to the Dean’s list for three semesters and was a two-time Academic All-American.
