1995 Anthony O'Hara

Anthony O'Hara - Class of 1995

Anthony graduated from Upper Perkiomen High School in 1995 where he participated in track and field and football. Anthony was the 1995 PIAA (AAA) State Champion in the javelin and recognized as one of U.S. Track and Field News top performers. In addition to his exceptional accomplishments in track and field he was also a key contributor to the Upper Perk football program having earned PAC 10 and Pottstown Mercury All-Area awards as well as being one of the schools record holders for various powerlifting categories.
As a participant in track and field at Upper Perk, Anthony was team MVP in both 1994 and 1995. As the school’s all-time javelin thrower he set meet records in the Pacer Invitational, the PAC 10 championship and recorded the area’s best throw in the PIAA state tournament en route to the gold medal and the school’s only state championship in a field event.
As a football player, Anthony was a starter on both offense and defense. He earned recognition for his football talents when he received the team award for outstanding linebacker/defensive back and was named the Pottstown Mercury all-area honorable mention wide receiver. He was also named to the PAC 10 All-Academic football team his senior year.
Anthony was also an outstanding competitor on the school’s powerlifting team. Competing in the teenage powerlifting state meet, Anthony placed in the top three all four years in which he competed. He set school records three of his four years in the competition and one meet record as a sophomore.
In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Anthony was also a strong student at Upper Perkiomen finishing 8th in his graduating class and earning a scholarship to Ursinus College where he continued to compete in track and field.
Anthony's athletic accomplishments in the javelin continued at Ursinus as he earned a second place finish in the Centenial Conference championships his freshmen year. During his sophomore year he won the Conference championship. During his junior year he was conference champ, Mid-East Regional champ and was an NCAA qualifier where he finished in 10th place. Anthony completed his collegiate career his senior year by winning his third conference championship, his second Mid-East Regional championship and finished ninth at the NCAA championships.
Anthony graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ursinus in 1999 with a degree in Exercise and Sports Science with a minor in Biology. Anthony continued his academic progression by graduating from Arcadia University in 2002 with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy.
