Terry Fetterman - 1954

Terry Fetterman graduated from Upper Perkiomen High School in 1954, where he was a standout student and athlete.  He earned academic honors and was widely respected by his peers, who elected him president of his class.  A talented multi-sport athlete, Terry achieved 12 varsity letters while at UPHS, meaning he played varsity football, basketball and baseball all 4 years of high school.  Terry’s sense of sportsmanship, skill and determination was demonstrated both on and off the field.  Terry was also a cast member in the class play his senior year.

After high school, he went to Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, where his leadership qualities again shone through as he was elected class president.  While at Bucknell, Terry remained deeply involved in athletics, playing both football and baseball and further building the friendships and experiences he would cherish throughout his life.  Major League Baseball was scouting Terry during his time at Bucknell.  Unfortunately, he broke his left arm and since he was left-handed, he was never able to hit the same again.

Terry went on to earn his law degree from Dickinson Law School.  In 1960, he married Ruth Eleanor “Ellie” Body in Boyertown, Pennsylvania, where they made their home and raised four children, Deborah, Terry, Theodore and Andrew.

Known for his warmth and loyalty, Terry maintained close connections with friends and family throughout his life.  He often spoke fondly of his time at Upper Perk, reflecting on the formative years and lifelong relationships he built there.  His visits with loved ones were a cherished part of who he was, and he left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Tragically, Terry’s life was cut short when he passed away on October 8, 1977, at the age of 41.  Despite his untimely passing, his legacy of leadership, dedication, and devotion to family continue to live on through those who remember and love him.  Terry’s son, Terry Allen Fetterman, who currently lives in Pottstown, has been enjoying attending the UPHS Class of 1954 high school reunions in his father’s absence.
